Police Tragedy In My Home Town

There has been a tragic event in my home town of Nelson, New Zealand. A police officer was deliberately killed by a man who ran into her and a colleague in a car at high speed on New Years Eve. The police officer was Senior Sargeant Lyn Fleming, a much loved member of the Nelson police community.

Lyn is the first woman police officer to be killed in the line of duty in New Zealand, and the first police officer to die on duty in Nelson. Police deaths are rare in New Zealand so the entire country is reeling from this tragedy.

I do not want to compromise anonymity but someone close to me is involved in the Nelson police. My heart goes out to family members of the victims, both Lyn and her colleague Adam. The impact has devastated their police colleagues and their families, and then into the wider community.

The last 24 hours have been extremely hard.

I ask that blog readers give me some space as I, and the wider Nelson community, process what has happened.

Please leave comments but I respectfully let you know that I won't be responding to them. I am taking tomorrow off post writing. I need some time.

Thank you for the loving comments that are already on this post. Your love and support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Love and Light

Sierra

It means a lot in my daily life to be able to come here and read the news that you have selected. It has been a great help for me that I discovered Stargate Newsletter. It helps me staying sane and to remember the 60.000 feet perspective in this sometimes crazy worldπŸ•Š
